Government of Montenegro introduces eDMS solutions developed by a consortium of SRC and Čikom, Podgorica

The Government of Montenegro has set an objective of introducing full eBusiness and eOperations among governmental bodies by spring of 2010. The introduction of eDMS (Electronic Data Management Systems) will enable a more expedient response among government bodies and will reduce the amount of paper used by government officials. The eDMS introduced in Montenegro represent the G2G (government to government) and G2C (government to citizens) aspects of eGovernance development.

The agreement, signed on September 2nd 2009, on the development and programming of the information systems for document management for the Government of Montenegro is worth an estimated 696.000€ and was signed by the Minister for Information Society, Mr. Vujica Lazović and Mr. Nenad Vraneš, director of Čikom and the representative of a consortium of Čikom (Podgorica, Montenegro) and SRC Systems Integration (Slovenia and Serbia).

The eDMS solutions captures the complete life cycle of all relevant government files and documents, from the time the document is officially formulated and/or received by a specific department of the state administration through the distribution, approval, signing and finally passive and active archiving of the selected files and documents.

As was stated by Minister Vujica Lazović the new document management system is expected to produce a reduction of costs incurred by the Government and its ministries in an annual amount of 6 million Euros.

The project’s due date is in about eight months in which full development and programming of electronic databases and full management of all state administration’s files and documents are expected. The end result is expected to severely increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the Government of Montenegro.
