CeGDs’ role in regional cooperation in South East Europe and EU accession process of candidate countries is based upon the role that Slovenia played in the development of the region in the 20th Century.

1.Slovenia was a part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, which was an important actor of development of the South East Europe region after WW II. Yugoslavia had also been one of the founders and facilitators of the non-aligned movement.
2.Picture of Ljubljana During the biggest enlargement of the European Union in 2004 Slovenia was the best prepared country to join the enlarged European Community. Slovenia was the first of the new 10 member states to introduce the EURO in 2007 and the first to take on the challenge of EU presidency in the summer of 2008.
3. eGovernment in the necessary precondition for the proper functioning of the 7ePillars model and constitutes its most crucial pillar. In 2007 Slovenia was placed second in the European Commission - Capgemini 7th Measurement on the Supply of Online Public Services. During the Slovenian EU presidency the founding partners decided to choose Ljubljana as the host of the Centre for eGovernance Development in South East Europe.More information on the Capgemini survey...
